2012 Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards
The wait has begun. The nomination period has closed for the 2012 Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards – Aquarion’s program honoring individuals, non-profits and companies who have made a real difference to our environment.
The awards will be announced on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s Wild Wine, Beer & Food Safari. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal will be on hand to honor the winners, as will Commissioner Daniel Esty of the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection and John DeAugustine, Group Publisher of Hearst Media Services of Connecticut.

Awards
- Adult, business and non-profit: $2500 grant to the
environmental non-profit of each winner’s choice
- Student (Grade 9-12): $1000 savings bond
Criteria
Awards will be given to volunteer projects that excel at:
- Significantly contributing to the improvement of environmental quality through the protection, conservation, restoration and/or stewardship of natural resources:
- Air
- Water
- Soils
- Plant and wildlife communities
- Air
- Demonstrating a high achievement level
- Creating sustainable or reproducible results
