Aquarion Opens Nominations For The 2014 Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards
Who do you know who is doing outstanding volunteer work on behalf of the environment? By naming them, you could help turn a statewide spotlight on their work – and bring some cash rewards as well.
For the fourth year in a row, the Aquarion Water Company is looking for adults, students (grades 9-12), large and small businesses, and non-profits whose volunteer work to protect and improve Connecticut’s natural environment is worthy of special recognition. Self-nominations and re-nominations from previous years are accepted.
The winning individuals, businesses and non-profit will be able to name an environmental non-profit organization to receive a $2,500 grant from Aquarion. The student winner will receive a $1,000 award.
Nominations can be made for volunteer projects that have contributed significantly to the improvement of environmental quality through the protection, conservation, restoration and/or stewardship of Connecticut’s water, air, soils, and plant and wildlife habitats.
Winners will be named on Saturday, June 7, at a special event taking place in Bridgeport at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. Participating in the awards ceremony will be U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal.
The nomination deadline is May 7. For more information and a nomination form, go to our 2014 Award Details page.
