Water Supply Emergency Update

Per the Connecticut Department of Public Health's Declaration & Order dated September 29, 2016, Aquarion Water Company will provide this weekly water supply emergency update for our Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford water systems.

B. Conservation Communications and Enforcement

Mandatory ban violators: 487 reported  |  487 were either called or tagged at their door

Number of Aquarion enforcement patrols: For the period 9/26 - 10/2, 4 patrols found 240 violators in a three day period

Customer direct mail: Direct mail postcard mailed to all Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford customers on 10/5/16

C. Communications with Suez and New York officials in Rye, Rye Brook and Port Chester

 

Aquarion discussed the declaration of public water supply emergency with Suez’s regional manager, and expressed the need for Suez to communicate and enforce the irrigation ban, as well as the need for Suez to identify infrastructure that they would need to increase the amount of water that they purchase from Westchester Joint Water Works. Aquarion followed up the phone call with an email to Suez communicating the same message. Suez’s demand on the Aquarion system has continued to decrease.

 

D. Communications with Connecticut officials in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford

 

On Tuesday, October 4, Aquarion participated in a drought meeting hosted by Stamford Mayor David Martin. Town officials from Darien, Greenwich and New Canaan all participated along with the CT Department of Public Health.
