Water Supply Emergency Update

Per the Connecticut Department of Public Health's Declaration & Order dated September 29, 2016, Aquarion Water Company will provide this weekly water supply emergency update for our Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford water systems.

Darien – 77 premises visited – confirmed one toilet leak / eight possible toilet leaks

Greenwich – 35 premises visited – thirteen possible toilet leaks

Stamford – 78 premises – confirmed five toilet leaks / five possible toilet leaks

System leak detection – 11/14 - 11/20

Darien – 0 miles /3 bleeders checked

Greenwich – 6.4 miles -  no leaks found /1 bleeder checked

New Canaan – 35 miles -  no leaks found

Stamford – 55 miles - no leaks found

3 Darien and 1 Greenwich bleeder checked

Pipeline inspection completed on 11/18/2016
 

Violators: No violators were reported.

Customer direct mail: Direct mail postcard mailed to all Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford customers on 10/5/16. A second postcard was mailed on 10/19/16.

Daily papers - Greenwich Time, Stamford Advocate - 9/28, 9/30, 10/5, 10/7, 10/12, 10/14, 10/26, 10/28, Stamford Advocate - 11/2, 11/4 – new ads will begin running on 11/30

Mobile billboard: Mobile billboard began into Greenwich on Wednesday, October 12, and was in Stamford on Thursday, October 13, and is in Darien and New Canaan on Friday, October 14. Mobile billboard was in all four towns over the weekend of October 15-16, and October 19-21. The billboard was in Rye and Ryebrook on October 22-23. The billboard was in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford through October 30.

C. Communications with Suez and New York officials in Rye, Rye Brook and Port Chester

 

Over the past week, Aquarion reiterated its request to Suez that they further reduce their demand on our system, and that they evaluate their long term water supply options.

 

D. Communications with Connecticut officials in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford

 

Aquarion has had day-to-day communications with town officials. A conference call with town officials, health directors and the CT Department of Health is scheduled for Friday, December 2. A water conserveration workshop for town officials, DPH, and DEEP, is also being planned for December 13.
