Tenant-Landlord Account Transfers
If you are a landlord, you may retain responsibility for the water bill at your rental property or transfer billing to a tenant. To transfer billing, please ask your tenant to contact us by calling us at the number listed below.
A security deposit of $100.00 is required for residential tenants. A security deposit of one quarterly bill or no less than $300.00 is required for commercial tenants. The security deposit will be added to the tenant's first water bill.
The security deposit and interest will offset any amount due upon final termination of the account. If there is a credit left on the account, a refund will be issued.
A tenant in a multi-unit dwelling must have an independent service line to become an Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut customer.
If the tenant fails to pay, the water service may be terminated for non-payment.
When the tenant contacts us upon moving out of the property, we will automatically place the account back in the landlord's name unless instructed by the landlord to shut the service. Please refer to the list of miscellaneous charges under "Water Rates" for turn-on fees.
