Thirsty - CT

Welcome Kids!

My name is Thurston A. Plenty, but you can call me Thirsty — all my friends do! My friends at Aquarion Water Company asked me to come to Connecticut to help kids learn about water, and why everyone must be careful not to waste it.

Do you know how important the water that comes out of your faucet is? Think of all the ways people use water every day:

We drink water (it’s better for you than soda!)

We need water to grow everything we eat — and we cook many of our foods in water, too!

We wash our hands and take showers and baths in water

We keep our dishes and clothes clean with water

We brush our teeth with water

We make ice cubes with water

We give water to our pets

We water our flower gardens

We fill swimming pools with water

We use water to put out fires

So you see, we all have to be smart about how we use water. We also have to protect the places where our water comes from. That’s called “conservation,” but I just call it, being “water-wise.”

You can learn ways to be water-wise by clicking on “Conservation” on the right side of this page. Then you can have some fun with an easy experiment you can do at home by clicking on “Water Work,” and see how much you learned by clicking on “Fun With Water.”

Would you like to see pictures of me with some of the people I’ve met since I came to Connecticut? Check out my photo album! And if you have any pictures of me from my visits to schools or parades, I’d love for you to send them to me so I can add them to my album. You can e-mail them to me at Thirsty@aquarionwater.com.

In the meantime, I hope you’ll come and say hi when you see me at your school or in your neighborhood. And don’t forget to be water-wise!
